PART is a coin with various degrees of privacy to accommodate all types of users and is required to use the Particl platform’s marketplace and Dapps. As Particl is a native Segwit blockchain, all transactions use Segregated Witness (Segwit) by default making the platform very scalable and Lightning Network-ready.

Can I store PART on a hardware wallet?

Will PART be added to other exchanges?

The Particl team is in constant discussion with many exchanges, however, the decision to list PART or not is entirely up to the exchanges themselves. The Particl team is ready to pay listing fees and offer any technical support to exchanges willing to add the coin. What gives PART intrinsic value?

While the PART coin itself is a serious privacy coin with bleeding-edge technology (Segwit, CT, RingCT, voting, Bitcoin codebase 0.16, etc), it is not merely a speculative vehicules. Here at Particl, we strongly believe in utility rather than pure speculation. This is the reason why an entire decentralized, private and democratic economy is being built around it. Being at the centerpiece of the Particl platform, PART can be seen as the gas that makes the platform runs. Every transactions and decentralized applications (i.e. the marketplace) built on the Particl platform requires PART to pay for the fees. Even if other coins are used through our currency-agnostic mechanisms, any non-PART transaction made on the Particl platform is instantly converted into PARTs. As such, the PART coin derives most of its value from its utility capabilities rather than simply by being speculated on.

What kind of action generates demand for the PART coin?

  • Marketplace transactions
  • PART currency transactions
  • Non-PART currency transactions made on the Particl platform
  • Temporarily locked escrow funds (locks PARTs out of the trading market for the duration of the escrow contract)

What is PART's codebase?

PART is built from the Bitcoin Core codebase. As the Particl team heavily focuses on security, its version will always be updated to the latest iteration within hours/days. Updating the codebase to the most recent version allows the platform to benefit from the latest security, performance and stability development made on the Bitcoin Core codebase.

What are the transactions fees for PART?

The default fee for public transactions is 0.002 PART per kb but you can adjust the limit to your needs (higher fee = better confirmation times).

Why has PART different privacy states?

  • Freedom of choice.
  • Technical prerequisite for making easy atomic swaps with other bitcoin-based currencies.
  • To raise the probability and lower the technical barrier to get adopted by third-party services.
  • As fees are higher on privacy transactions, some users not requiring privacy for a specific transaction may not be interested in paying extra privacy fees.

Is Segwit enabled?

Particl is natively integrated with Segwit, meaning it was activated from Block 1 and is activated by default on all transactions. It is not possible to make non-Segwit transactions on Particl.

What are atomic swaps?

Atomic swaps are decentralized and trustless trade between two users of different cryptocurrencies. It makes trading cryptocurrencies without any third-party (i.e. trading exchange) and have sblockchains directly interact between each others (i.e. cross-chain smart-contracts) possible.

What is Particl's transaction-per-second (TPS) capabilities?

Calculating this is pretty hard as it greatly depends on the ratio of public, blinded and anonymous transactions. Several other factors can impact the results such as smart-contracts and multisig addresses. In the end, a more accurate metric would be to calculate each transaction size. Regardless, it is still possible to calculate a very approximative estimate of Particl's TPS by assuming all transactions are regular (non-multisig or smart-contract based). In reality, Particl's TPS is probably a bit lower than the numbers that will be calculated above as more multisig and smart-contract transactions take place on the network:
